For schools wanting to host Noche De Ciencias 2011 (Closed):
Noches de Ciencias – Family Science Nights – is a national initiative to have a week of impact during Hispanic Heritage Month to engage the Hispanic community in relaxed environments to have fun with science and engineering and promote college awareness in a bilingual setting. SHPE student and professional chapters across the United States and Puerto Rico engage their local communities with activities for K-12 students and informative bilingual workshops for their parents. The goal of Noches De Ciencias is to broaden the participation of Hispanics along all segments of the science and engineering pathway.

The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, Southern Arizona Chapter, is looking for educators to submit applications to host a “Noche De Ciencias” program at their school.  Educators are responsible for planning the event date/time with their school, parents and students in October 2011.  SHPE Southern Arizona will provide the workshop, food and volunteers to execute the event.

Please submit this application to nochedeciencias@shpe-soaz.org by October 14, 2011.  If you have any questions please send those to the e-mail address above or call David Vera at 516-410-2474 or Jesus Acevedo at 520-891-2898.

Thank you and we look forward to meeting you,

David Vera, SHPE Southern Arizona President

Jesus Acevedo, Noche De Ciencias Chairperson
